AVAR 2022 was the 25th edition of AVAR’s international conferences, and returned to the physical format after the pandemic. The event was held from 1st to 2nd December 2022 at the Carlton Hotel in Singapore and also marked AVAR shifting its headquarters to Singapore. Cybersecurity Counter Punch was chosen as the theme for the conference to reflect the role that cybersecurity, and AVAR, would play in protecting individuals, organizations, and nations against the unprecedented rise in cyberattacks triggered by the pandemic. The conference was attended by 250+ delegates.

Keynote Speeches
The inaugural address and keynote speeches on the first day of the conference (1st December, 2022) were delivered by Mr. Kesavardhanan J, the CEO of AVAR; Dr. Pavan Duggal, Advocate, Supreme Court of India & Chairman, International Commission on Cyber Security Law; Mr. Steven SIM, President, ISACA SG Chapter; and Mr. PK Gupta, Global CTO & APJC Presales Lead, Global Alliances Presales at Dell Technologies. Keynote speeches on the second day (2nd December, 2022) were delivered by Mr. Righard Zwienenberg from ESET and Mr. Eddy Willems from G DATA.
Threat Research
Cyberthreat research is key to maintaining cybersecurity and the world’s leading cyberthreat researchers presented their research findings at AVAR 2022. Cybersecurity leaders spearhead security initiatives in the enterprise sector, and have critical insight to share on ensuring cyber defenses deliver favorable real-world outcomes. AVAR 2022 included a management track with panel discussions amongst cybersecurity leaders on ‘Cybersecurity Trends for 2023 and Beyond,’ ‘The Curse of the False Positive,’ and ‘Is the CISO the Next New Board Member?’ with leaders from Accenture Security, Acronis, AppEsteem, AV-Comparatives, Cisco, Cohesity, CrowdStrike, ESET, G Data, K7 Computing, Kaspersky, Kiteworks, Kroll, Microsoft, NTT, PCCW Solutions Limited/Lenovo, and Tokopedia participating in the panel discussions.

Networking amongst conference participants was a key objective of AVAR 2022, as in-person interaction creates deeper relationships and leads to greater collaboration between cybersecurity professionals. In addition to the refreshment breaks and lunch during the conference, AVAR 2022 also included a Welcome Drinks Reception at the Chijmes – Alcove at Caldwell House on 30th November and a Gala Dinner on 1st December at the Capella Hotel. Both social events were very well received by conference participants for providing fun and entertainment while remaining professional.
