CALL FOR PAPERS
Back to basics: fighting the evolving criminal
The 20th International Conference 2017 Anti-virus Asia Researchers (AVAR 2017) will be held on December 6-8, 2017 in Beijing, China. The main theme of the conference is “Back to Basics: Fighting the Evolving Cyber Criminal”
Cyber criminals are constantly evolving their approaches. They have moved from ransomware attacks to IoT botnet attacks, from bank heists to cyber espionage APT, and from malvertising attacks to deceptive social engineering attacks. AVs have responded with machine learning, eradication, disruption, orchestrated defenses, threat intelligence sharing, and criminal engagement.
We want this year’s conference to explore how the AV industry can leverage its strengths, orchestrate its expertise, and embrace innovative approaches to continuously fight and win against evolving threats. We are calling for papers that discuss how we are (or should be) evolving our tools, techniques, and practices to win, to better safeguard PCs, mobile devices, servers, endpoints, and network .
Topics can include:
- How machine learning and AI enhance security
- Automated malware analysis
- Endpoint detection and response
- Ransomware
- IoT security
- Rootkit
- Mobile security
- APT
- NGAV
- Honeypot
- Cybercrime monetization ecosystem and black market
- Threat intelligence sharing
- Adaptive defense
- Relevant case studies
We welcome and encourage wide-ranging topics, covering all domains of cyber security. Any topic relevant to “Going Back to Basics: Fighting the Evolving Cyber Criminal” will be considered. However, we are not looking for sales pitches and marketing papers, but papers that inform, engage, or inspire our industry in its fight against malware and evolving cybercrime!
