AVAR (Association of anti Virus Asia Researchers) was founded in June 1998. The primary objective of AVAR is to prevent the spread and damage caused by malicious software and to develop cooperative relationships among anti-malicious software experts in Asia. AVAR is an independent and a not-for-profit organization.

AVAR is a professional and specialist organization which comprises prominent, world-leading experts on malware threats, technologies and trends from around the world including Asia, China, Europe, Japan and the USA. AVAR's is an independent organization whose aim is to play an important role to fight against computer malware globally and to raise user's awareness on broader computer security issues.

The organization has a formal constitution, code of conduct and is committed to improve member's knowledge and skills.
